butterfly effect

Like butterflies, we drift through life,
carried by winds we cannot see,
sometimes light as summer air,
sometimes heavy with all the things
our hearts long to hold.

We rest upon the flowers of our days,
tasting the sweetness of love,
gathering memories
like grains of golden pollen
upon our fragile wings.

Some souls cross our path for a moment,
others remain through changing seasons.
Yet no flight lasts forever,
no dance beneath the sunlight
escapes the passing of time.

And perhaps that is where beauty lives
in knowing that every moment matters
cause it won't stay,
that every embrace feels precious
cause it can't last forever.

Love is like a butterfly,
not something to capture,
not something to own,
but something to cherish
while it rests gently in our hands.

So we continue our journey,
from day to day,
from heart to heart,
knowing our time is limited,
and therefore infinitely valuable.

For in the end,
it's not the years that remain,
but the traces we leave behind
in the hearts of those we touched,
soft as the beat of a butterfly's wings,
brief as a summer bloom,
yet remembered long after the flight is gone.
