Where Reason Meets Longing

13.07.2026

There are battles no one ever sees.

They do not begin with raised voices.
Not with life-changing decisions.

They begin quietly.
Almost unnoticed.

With a thought that lingers a little longer than it should.
With a feeling that refuses to disappear, even though the mind has already found every possible answer.

I was always convinced that I was happy.

Not because my life was perfect.
But because I knew what I had.
Because I had learned to be grateful.
Because I never felt that anything was missing.

And then something happened that I never expected.

Not that anything was taken from me.

But that something suddenly appeared—something I never even knew I could long for.

Desire is a strange thing.

It doesn't ask whether the timing is right.
It doesn't care how much has already been built.
It doesn't knock before it enters.

It simply arrives.

And suddenly, the mind begins making lists.

Think about everything you could lose.

Think about the people who trust you.

Everything you've built.

Every decision you've once made with complete conviction.

And yet, there is this other voice.

It is quieter.

It doesn't argue.

It asks only one question:

What if this is real?

Perhaps that is the hardest part.

Not wanting something that is out of reach.

But wanting something while knowing exactly how much is at stake.

Knowing that every step in that direction would also be a step away from something else.

The mind shows you the consequences.

The heart has known them all along.

And still, it keeps beating.

I used to think that happiness meant never having to doubt.

Now I believe happiness is far more complicated.

You can be genuinely happy and still encounter a feeling that makes you question everything, even though you never asked for it.

Perhaps that is what growing older truly means.

Realizing that reason is sometimes nothing more than love in its most responsible form.

There are decisions no one will ever applaud.

Because no one knows they were ever made.

Some battles remain invisible forever.

They are not fought between two people.

They take place deep within ourselves.

Between what we long for and what we are willing to protect.

And sometimes, the greatest act of strength is not following your heart.
